Weaver Expands Tax Credits Practice with Director Katy Foraker

HOUSTON (March 11, 2026) — National accounting and advisory firm, Weaver, is pleased to announce that Katy Foraker, CPA, has joined the firm as director in its Tax Credits and Incentives practice. Based in Bethesda, Maryland, Katy brings more than 15 years of experience advising clients on research and development (R&D) tax credits and related incentives, along with a background in technical leadership, innovation and delivering measurable value to teams and clients.
Before joining Weaver, Katy served as a tax director in a Big Four firm where she supported its Specialized Tax Services practice. In that role, she led client engagements and was an elected member of the National Technical Committee where she was responsible for addressing complex inquiries and providing legislative updates. Her background also includes strategic federal tax services for other national accounting firms leading R&D tax credit engagements and guiding clients through IRS examinations.
In addition to her technical experience, Katy has experience in designing and deploying automated intelligence-based automation tools to improve efficiency and consistency in technical documentation and audit‑ready deliverables at both the practice and national levels. Translating these artificial intelligence (AI) skills to her new role, Katy will leverage data and documentation driven processes and intelligent automation to streamline R&D tax credit analyses, enhancing accuracy, scalability and the overall client experience.
“Katy’s deep technical knowledge, innovative mindset and long-standing focus on delivering high-quality work strengthens Weaver’s ability to support clients navigating complex credit and incentive opportunities,” said Ryan Coleman, partner-in-charge, tax credits and incentives services, at Weaver. “Her leadership in R&D tax credits and technical process improvements will be a valuable asset as we continue to expand our specialty tax capabilities.”
Katy earned a Bachelor of Science in business administration with a concentration in accounting from American University’s Kogod School of Business. She is a licensed certified public accountant in New Hampshire, Virginia and the District of Columbia and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA).
