John Michael Jaramillo

John Michael Jaramillo, CPA, is an audit partner with more than 25 years of public accounting experience advising companies across the energy, infrastructure and financial services industries. John Michael leads the firm’s audit strategy for one of its largest industry sectors, working with public, private and private equity-backed companies on complex accounting, financial reporting and business matters.

John Michael has extensive experience serving upstream oil and gas companies, oilfield service providers and energy infrastructure businesses throughout their lifecycle. His experience spans financial statement audit and advisory services, acquisition and divestiture support, reserve-related accounting, DD&A, impairment analyses, asset retirement obligations (ARO), standardized measure (SMOG) disclosures, GAAP conversions and operational process improvement. John Michael has extensive experience performing royalty and revenue interest compliance engagements, advising clients on complex ownership and revenue allocation matters and serving as an expert witness in litigation involving royalty and revenue interest disputes. In addition, he has significant experience serving companies that own and operate integrated infrastructure, including water gathering systems, saltwater disposal facilities and other oil and gas related assets, providing clients with practical insight across the evolving energy value chain. He is known for helping management teams, boards and investors navigate complex transactions.

In addition to his energy experience, John Michael has served more than 100 national and state-chartered financial institutions through external audits, FDICIA and SOX compliance, trust audits and niche consulting engagements. This breadth of experience provides clients with valuable perspectives on governance, internal controls, risk management and financial reporting.

John Michael also serves as the location executive partner for Weaver’s Midland office, where he is responsible for office leadership, talent development and market growth. He is passionate about developing future leaders, building high-performing teams and delivering exceptional client service while helping shape the firm’s long-term strategy in the energy industry.

John Michael is an active member of the Council of Petroleum Accountants Societies (COPAS), the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants (TXCPA). He earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in accounting from Abilene Christian University.
