Greg Rivers Joins Weaver as Managing Director, Tax Credits and Incentives

HOUSTON (October 14, 2025) – National accounting and advisory firm, Weaver, is pleased to announce that Greg Rivers has joined the firm as a managing director in its Tax Credits and Property Incentives practice. Based in Minneapolis, Greg has nearly two decades of tax advisory experience helping clients identify opportunities, maximize credits and incentives and achieve measurable savings across multiple industries.
Over his career, Greg has led accounting method change and UNICAP projects, enabling clients to achieve cash tax savings and compliance. He has also guided research and development tax credit projects, recharacterized fixed assets into deductible repairs and leveraged technology and process improvements to increase engagement margins. In addition to his technical skills, Greg’s work has expanded team capabilities through global collaboration, specifically in the design and delivery of numerous training programs, including a two-week fixed asset and UNICAP course in India.

Before joining Weaver, Greg built a strong foundation in tax advisory through leadership roles at Big Four and national firms. Notably, he co-led Section 266 projects with a focus on the utility sector and worked with clients in the oil and gas, financial services, manufacturing, retail and real estate industries.
Greg is a member of the Minnesota State Bar Association and the American Bar Association and continued his professional development through the University of Minnesota’s Master of Business Taxation program. He received a Bachelor of Arts in business administration from Fort Lewis College, as well as a juris doctor and an LLM in taxation from Thomas M. Cooley Law School.
