Jeanne Smith Honored as a “Great Woman of Texas”
Jeanne Smith, CPA and partner in Weaver’s tax and strategic business services, was honored at the “Great Women of Texas” dinner, presented by the Fort Worth Business Press on October 23, 2013, at the Fort Worth Club. Jeanne was one of 28 women and one organization selected as “2013 Texas Women of Influence.” She was nominated by The University of Texas at Arlington College of Business, where she is a very active alumna.
With more than three decades of experience in public accounting and named the first female partner at Weaver, Jeanne leads, along with several other female partners, “Inspire,” Weaver’s women’s initiative. Inspire’s mission is to foster a work environment that attracts and inspires excellence through career advocacy, advancement, visible female leadership roles, work/life integration and marketplace success. She was also recently honored with the “2013 Dean’s Award for Extraordinary Service” by The University of Texas at Arlington’s College of Business.
When asked what the most important piece of advice she had been given, Jeanne replied, “A female colleague once said during a panel discussion, ‘Be courageous!’ To me, this meant not to be afraid to take risks. This advice has guided me to stretch myself and undertake challenges I might not have tackled.”
