State of the Region 2016 Recap

Weaver employees recently gathered at the firm’s annual State of the Region meetings to celebrate individual and firm successes from Fiscal Year 2016 and prepare for new objectives and opportunities for Fiscal Year 2017.

John Mackel, Managing Partner & CEO, along with regional leaders, led five meetings total in Central Texas, Houston, Los Angeles, North Texas and Midland. The advisory and state and local tax teams also held events specifically for their service lines.

Meeting Highlights

• Firm growth updates, including the addition of 12 new partners
• New culture initiatives, including a newly launched mentoring program, improved maternity and paternity leave policy, and the introduction of an updated, relaxed business casual dress code
• Revamped women’s initiative, Inspire
• Announcement of FY16 ACTION Award winners
• A surprise blooper reel from our recruiting video series
• Wrap-up with a local happy hour

Inspire

Neha Patel was announced as the new chair of Inspire, a program focused on attracting and retaining the next generation of female leaders by fostering a work environment that inspires excellence through visibility, progression and advocacy. While it’s not the Inspire program’s first year, the announcement garnered excitement for a new era, especially leading into the firm’s Fall Women’s Summit.

ACTION Awards

The ACTION Awards program, a program that recognizes outstanding employees who exemplify Weaver’s ACTION philosophy and go above and beyond in their day-to-day routines, was expanded to include more winners than ever before. Congratulations to all of this year’s well-deserved nominees and winners.

Bloopers Video

No State of the Region meeting would be complete without some laughs, and the recently launched recruiting video series provided more than ample opportunity for just that. After compiling some of the funniest moments from the video shoots, Weaver released a surprise bloopers video.
