Hillary Balares, CPA, is a partner in Weaver’s audit practice with more than 15 years of public accounting experience serving both public and privately held companies. She provides audit and assurance services to companies operating in the energy sector, with significant experience across upstream, midstream and energy-related businesses. Hillary leads financial statement audits and reviews performed under U.S. GAAS and PCAOB standards and has extensive experience supporting clients through complex accounting, reporting and capital markets transactions.
Throughout her career, Hillary has worked with SEC registrants, nonissuer PCAOB engagements and companies navigating significant transactions and public market reporting requirements. Her experience includes audits of publicly traded entities, de-SPAC transactions, acquisition-related reporting requirements and first-year public company audits. She routinely assists clients with SEC filing considerations and coordinates audit procedures related to registration statements and other capital-raising activities.
In addition to her technical acumen, Hillary is recognized for her ability to lead complex engagements involving multiple stakeholders, evaluate technical accounting matters and deliver high-quality service in demanding reporting environments. She has extensive experience with successful efforts and full cost accounting, SEC reporting considerations, complex financing arrangements, business combinations, asset retirement obligations, revenue recognition and impairment analyses.
Hillary is a certified public accountant (CPA) and is active in professional and industry organizations, including the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants (TXCPA), Women’s Energy Network and Young Professionals in Energy. Hillary earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in accounting from Texas A&M University.
