Robert Crotty, CPA, has nine years of public accounting experience focused on managing tax engagements from start to finish, including planning, staffing, reviewing and billing. He primarily works with hedge funds, private equity funds, hybrid funds and other alternative investment funds, generally structured as partnerships for federal tax purposes. He is also experienced in identifying and addressing the broad range of ancillary tax compliance matters common to the investment funds space. From state and local tax filings (SALT) to international informational reporting, Robert has managed numerous engagements with significant reporting requirements in both. His engagements generally include working with clients in the oil and gas sector, real estate, private investment companies, as well as traditional equities, trading funds and hedge funds with various strategies.
Robert is experienced in analyzing complex tax planning issues and is knowledgeable about investment fund structures specific to the industry. He is experienced in understanding and interpreting limited partnership agreement provisions including qualified income offset provisions, targeted capital approach and waterfall allocations.
Robert leads the training and development of Weaver’s investment funds tax group with a strong focus on efficiency and technical accuracy. He was a primary contributor and developer of the automation and eventual standardization of Weaver’s investment fund group’s internal hedge fund K-1 production process which resulted in greater engagement efficiency.
Robert is a certified public accountant (CPA) and active member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants (TXCPA). He graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration in accounting and a Master of Science in taxation from the University of North Texas.
