Weaver Announces Tom Bazley as Managing Director, Tax Quality Control and Risk Management

HOUSTON (January 30, 2024) – National accounting and advisory firm Weaver is pleased to announce the selection of Tom Bazley as managing director, Tax Quality Control and Risk Management. Tom’s role will support Weaver’s tax services in an effort to meet and exceed the standards established by the Internal Revenue Service, State Boards of Public Accountancy and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA).

With more than 25 years of public accounting experience, Tom’s career has focused on income, estate and gift tax planning for business owners, high-net-worth individuals and families. His industry experience also extends to income and estate planning for retirement benefits, including the required minimum distribution rules, income tax effects of certain distributions and issues related to using trusts to hold retirement benefits.

Based in Florida, Tom recently served as an estate, gift and trust practice leader at a top-10 accounting firm where he primarily supported high-net-worth families, including multiple families with a net worth exceeding $500 million. In this role, his work also extended to transfer tax planning.

Tom frequently speaks at estate planning councils and state CPA societies on income and transfer tax matters. As a content developer and instructor for courses on income, estate and gift tax planning, Tom’s efforts have supported the largest provider of continuing education material for CPAs. He has appeared on radio shows to discuss issues related to income and estate tax planning and is a published author of articles in The Tax Adviser, a publication by the AICPA. 

He is a Certified Public Accountant in Florida and also a member of the Florida Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the AICPA. Tom graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration in accounting from the University of North Florida.
