Weaver Grows Labor & Benefits Practice to Meet Rising Compliance Demands with Addition of Theresa McDowell

HOUSTON (January 6, 2026) — National accounting and advisory firm, Weaver, is pleased to announce that Theresa McDowell, CPA, has joined the firm’s Labor Union and Employee Benefit Plan (EBP) practice as a director of the west region based in its Denver office. She joins Weaver with an extensive background in public accounting, specifically in EBP assurance and compliance.
Theresa’s work has focused on ensuring compliance, improving internal controls and supporting fiduciary oversight for a wide range of employee benefit plans, including those with more than $1 billion in assets and complex compliance requirements.
She has also played key roles in developing teams and expanding service capabilities in new markets — experience that will support Weaver’s continued growth, particularly across the West Coast.
“Theresa brings not only deep technical experience in ERISA compliance, internal controls and EBP fiduciary support, but also a genuine commitment to mentoring and empowering those around her,” said Gary Brunick Jr., partner-in-charge of Weaver’s Labor Union and EBP practice. “Her disciplined approach and collaborative leadership style will strengthen our team’s capabilities and help our clients navigate compliance requirements with confidence.”
