Are You Aware of Current Transportation Grant Opportunities?
The U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT) has announced that funding will be made available through two grant programs for funding transportation projects across the country. We want to make you aware of these programs and the specifics, so you can evaluate and determine if either of these programs is right for your organization.
Please note: before applying for either grant, you must complete the grants.gov registration process, which can take two to four weeks. Details on how to register can be found here.
TIGER Grant Program
The Transportation Investment Generating Economic Recovery (TIGER) competitive grant program will provide $500 million for transportation projects in 2016. The TIGER program was designed to fund capital investments in surface transportation infrastructure with a focus on those projects that generate economic development and improve access to reliable transportation. Since its inception, the TIGER program has provided nearly $4.6 billion to 381 projects. View the full 2016 program and application details here. FASTLANE Grant Program
The Fostering Advancements in Shipping and Transportation for the Long-term Achievement of National Efficiencies (FASTLANE) grant program was established to help fund critical freight and highway projects across the United States. Under the Fixing America’s Surface Transportation (FAST) Act, the program will provide $800 million in 2016. Both national and regional projects will be considered, with 25 percent of the funding reserved for rural projects and 10 percent for smaller projects.
