Coronavirus Funds for Health Care Providers Bring Headaches With Relief

• With distributions likely to reach $175 billion for coronavirus care, the federal Provider Relief Fund, or PRF, has already delivered a critical lifeline for health care providers fighting Covid-19 on the front lines. Initially, Health and Human Services (HHS), the federal agency overseeing the program, distributed the approximately $100 billion directly to providers before releasing details about reporting and audit requirements. Now, hospitals and other providers that accepted these funds face a variety of administrative challenges as detailed reporting and auditing requirements continue to evolve.
