Detailed Description of Weaver’s Motor Fuels Tax Minute, Episode 123
00:00:00
Leanne: Welcome to Weaver’s Motor Fuels Tax Minute, the vlog where we talk all things motor fuel. Big group with us today.
00:00:06
Leanne: We’ve got our registrations team with us, and I’m going to throw it to Christie first, who heads up our registrations group, something that we do a lot of. So, Christie, over to you.
00:00:16
Christie: Hi, everyone. We have been really busy lately assisting clients with all kinds of different registrations. Form 637 registrations, various state motor fuel license registrations, things of that nature.
00:00:34
Christie: Julian, can you give us some of the best practices that you’ve discovered as you work through these with our clients?
00:00:42
Julian: Sure. I think first and foremost, it’s always going to be very important to fill out the questionnaire that we always send out to the clients as full as you can.
00:00:54
Julian: The more information we have, the fewer questions and less back-and-forth we’re going to have, not only with you, but also with the state if the state comes back with questions, as well as things like paying attention to notices.
00:01:05
Julian: Sometimes when you get a notice, you have a password in it. And if we need that password to get back into the registration to finish it out and you don’t have it, we have to start from the top or ask really nicely for someone to let us go through with it.
00:01:18
Julian: Other than that, any information you can think of that you think we might need, get it to us because you never know what you’re going to need from state to state. Some states are very simple. Some states are very, very detailed. The more you can give us, the better.
00:01:37
Christie: There’s one state I know of that even asks for fingerprints of the corporate officers. So, they do get very needy.
00:01:48
Julian: I think that’s Florida.
00:01:49
Leanne: It’s Florida.
00:01:49
Julian: Yeah. They even ask for previous employers too. It’s like a job interview.
00:01:55
Christie: Right. Well, thank you, Julian.
00:01:58
Kelly: Thank you so much to both of you for joining us today. I know sometimes when you see these registrations, you just think, “Oh, it’s just plugging in some information. How complicated can this be?”
00:02:08
Kelly: And then you get into the details, and you start questioning yourself. And that’s why our team’s here to help.
00:02:14
Kelly: We’ve done this enough times. We know how to answer the questions and to get the information to make things move a little faster, hopefully, with the IRS and the states. Well, that is this week’s Motor Fuels Tax Minute. Thank you for joining us.
00:02:26
Christie: Thank you.
00:02:27
Julian: Thank you.
