Detailed Description of Weaver’s Motor Fuels Tax Minute, Episode 32
00:00:00
Leanne: Welcome to Weaver’s Motor Fuel Tax Minute, where we talk all things motor fuel. It’s vacation season here on the vlog and I’m here in beautiful Australia with my best friend, this kangaroo guy here.
Here in Australia, E10 seems to be one of the more predominant fuel types. That was something that I learned while here.
Emilda, where are you hanging out?
00:00:19
Emilda: Wow Leanne, it sounds like you’re enjoying Australia and I love your kangaroo friend. I wish I could be there with you. I am in the state of Texas, and it is brutally hot out here. It’s 108 degrees this summer and it looks like we’re going to be experiencing some very hot temperatures. The good thing is I have a backyard oasis so I can jump in for a swim anytime during the week.
The only buzz that I see from a motor fuel perspective is Senate Bill 505, which Governor Abbott signed back in May and will go into effect September 1, 2023, is the electric vehicle registration of $400. Other than that, there’s not a whole lot else going on other than the hot temperatures.
With that, I’m going to pass it along to Kelly in Delaware.
00:01:07
Kelly: We are going back to the basics today. I’m coming live to you from Rehoboth Beach, Delaware. Now, usually what comes along with the summertime and beaches is not only fun in the sun, but there’s also the risk of hurricanes hitting. When a hurricane hits and devastates an area, the IRS and usually the state are willing to allow dyed diesel, which is usually exempt because it’s used off road, to be used on road without the additional taxes and without any penalties. So just keep an eye on it If your state, or a state that you file in, runs into this issue.
Thank you, everyone.
