Detailed Description of Weaver’s Motor Fuels Tax Minute, Episode 87
00:00:00
Kelly: Welcome, everyone, to this week’s Motor Fuels Tax Minute. As we usually talk about motor fuel tax, we’re taking a little bit of a break, and we’re starting to introduce you to some of our team members.
Today, we have Kathia on. Kathia, why don’t you tell us a little bit about yourself and about your time at Weaver so far?
00:00:16
Kathia: Yes, hi. My name is Kathia Paredes. Everybody calls me Kat. I have been working at Weaver since August of 2024, but I’ve been working in fuel tax since 2019.
And there’s a lot of things I love about working at Weaver, but if I had to pick one, I would say the unique blend between the investigative side and the creativity side of this role. And to further explain that, in fuel tax, every transaction will tell its own story and you really have to get to the bottom of it. What happened, the tax treatment and what does it mean in terms of reporting? And so, you do need some level of detective work to be able to find those answers.
And whenever you do find those answers, you do need some art skills to convey your findings. And my favorite way is by creating work papers that are clean, intuitive and educational. It’s my way of being able to express complex fuels tax concepts and make them more accessible and shareable to everybody else.
00:01:34
Kelly: Awesome. Well, can you also tell us, even though I feel like that’s actually pretty interesting, tell us an interesting fact outside of work.
00:01:42
Kathia: Okay. So, an interesting fact about me is that my favorite numbers are four and eight. And, yeah, four, because I grew up in a family of four, so, you know, it represents each one of us.
And then eight because it looks like a snowman. And I live by those numbers in my everyday life. Anywhere from taking four sips of coffee at a time, or putting my volume at 48 or 84 if my ears don’t work that day.
Yeah, I would say that’s a fun fact about me.
00:02:17
Kelly: Love it.
00:02:18
Leanne: Oh, I love that. I think that’s awesome. That’s one of the more unique fun facts that we’ve heard.
Well, thank you so much for coming on to the Motor Fuels Tax Minute and just letting our viewers know a little bit more about you. One thing that Kat didn’t mention is that she’s also extremely knowledgeable with software, which we talked about a couple of weeks ago. So any questions if you’re looking just to understand a workbook or something on the software or software implementation, then she is your gal.
And that was this week’s Motor Fuels Tax Minute.
