With the release of the latest American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) E3417 and existing National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) analytical methods, ethanol producers using corn and grain sorghum (milo) as feedstock can apply to generate Cellulosic Biofuel (D3) Renewable Identification Numbers (RINs).
Ethanol producers wishing to generate D3 RINs from the cellulosic portions of corn and grain sorghum (milo) co-processed feedstock must meet specific RFS regulatory requirements. Ethanol producers commonly opt to be covered under an approved Quality Assurance Plan (QAP) to ensure compliance with these specific requirements and D3 RIN marketability.
