The Client
As a leading independent power producer operating across North America, the client manages a diversified portfolio of natural gas, wind and solar assets. The company engaged Weaver’s Energy Solutions practice to evaluate and modernize its credit function, with a focus on applying artificial intelligence (AI) to enhance credit monitoring and decision-making capabilities.
The Challenge
The client’s credit function was limited by manual, reactive processes and legacy systems that lacked the capabilities to support advanced analytics, automation and AI. These constraints hindered their ability to proactively monitor and manage credit exposure. To stay competitive, the client needed a modernized approach that would integrate scalable AI solutions into its existing infrastructure and improve real-time credit decision-making.
The Process
Our energy data solutions team worked with the client to lead an AI-enabled transformation of their credit function. We began with in-depth workshops to assess the current-state environment, align on strategic priorities and present a curated landscape of relevant AI applications and vendors. Through detailed process mapping, we identified high-impact opportunities to enhance credit workflows. To validate these opportunities, we developed a targeted Proof of Concept (PoC) and a comprehensive, phased implementation roadmap for integrating plan AI solutions into their existing infrastructure.
The Deliverables
The engagement received strong support from the client’s project team. Weaver delivered the following key components to support the client’s AI transformation:
- AI technology recommendations: Weaver provided a curated set of AI tools and vendor options tailored to the client’s credit function and aligned with broader digital goals.
- A focused PoC: Our team developed and delivered a targeted PoC to demonstrate how AI could enhance credit exposure monitoring and decision-making.
- Implementation roadmap: Weaver created a phased, actionable roadmap outlining integration steps, success metrics and resourcing needs to support long-term adoption.
We presented our results to global leadership that are under active consideration for implementation.
