• Now that the SBA has opened its PPP forgiveness portal and lenders begin to accept forgiveness applications, the review process will undoubtedly uncover more fraud. As of August 25, 2020, the U.S. Department of Justice has filed charges in 37 matters, and counting, against more than 50 defendants for fraudulently applying for or obtaining hundreds of millions of dollars in PPP funds.”
