Weaver Accelerates Growth of Governance, Risk and Compliance Services with Expanded Team and Market Presence in the Northeast

HOUSTON (April 1, 2025) – Weaver, a national accounting and advisory firm, is expanding its advisory services in the Northeast, strengthening its regional presence and enhancing offerings to meet growing client needs. As part of this effort, Yoram Kappel will serve as a director in the Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC) practice, working closely with local partners in New York as well as the firm’s national strategy leaders to drive growth, build a local team and broaden Weaver’s impact in the market.
Yoram will primarily focus on expanding the firm’s internal audit, SOX, compliance and risk management services for private, public and public sector entities. With over 10 years of advisory experience, he has worked with clients in a multitude of industries and is deeply familiar with standards and governance frameworks that guide internal auditing and risk management programs.
Previously a senior manager in Weaver’s GRC practice, his contributions extended to the coordination and delivery of internal audit programs, risk assessments and compliance engagements. Yoram’s client services experience focuses on the identification and mitigation of financial, operational and regulatory risks, and his background has included risk management monitoring and improvement advice to audit committees and boards of directors. Additionally, his involvement in departmental recruitment, retention and culture includes both on and offshore, with a heavy involvement in the growth, development and success of the GRC-India practice, leading and training teams across multiple India offices.

Yoram is a chartered accountant (CA) and an active member of the Institute of Internal Auditors and the Association of Healthcare Internal Auditors. Native to Australia, Yoram completed the Weaver Secondment Program in 2016 and returned to the firm in 2018. Additionally, he was a 2022 Weaver Core Values Award recipient. Yoram graduated with a Bachelor of Business in Accounting and a Bachelor of Business in banking and finance from Monash University in Australia.
