Detailed Description of Weaver’s Motor Fuels Tax Minute, Episode 117
00:00:00
Leanne: Welcome to Weaver’s Motor Fuels Tax Minute, the vlog where we talk all things motor fuel.
00:00:04
Leanne: By now, you know that Weaver is going to have a great presence at the FTA’s annual motor fuel tax conference, and we are very much looking forward to karaoke and our panels at the 100th one.
00:00:15
Leanne: But in addition to our panels and our karaoke, Hunter is back with our annual cybersecurity talk, and it’s getting a little bit of a shake-up this year. Hunter, what can the attendees look forward to?
00:00:26
Hunter: Cybersecurity used to be one of the biggest technological challenges facing the motor fuels tax industry. It was the issue everyone worried about, the risk everyone was trying to stay ahead of.
00:00:37
Hunter: Today, we still have that challenge. But now we introduce artificial intelligence into the mix. Both come with new risks and new opportunities. Over the course of my career, I’ve worked with accounting, tax, compliance and technology teams to help navigate a lot of these emerging risks and to stay ahead of those challenges.
00:00:53
Hunter: My session is called Fueling the Future: Cybersecurity and AI in Our Industry. And during our time, we’ll look at what’s actually happening right now, not just the headlines, but some of the real trends that shape the industry. But it’s not just about technology.
00:01:08
Hunter: It’s designed specifically for those professionals that are working in accounting and tax and in compliance roles. We’ll walk through a realistic AI-driven attack scenario involving a motor fuels organization, discuss the governance and oversight challenges, explore practical ways to use AI responsibly and strengthen our decision-making using that.
00:01:29
Kelly: Fantastic. Thank you so much, Hunter. I know in the previous years, everyone has really enjoyed your presentations. I’ve definitely been part of those discussions afterward where you’ve gotten some of the people shaken up a little, warning them about what to watch out for. I know this will be another good one.
00:01:45
Kelly: Thank you for joining us. And that was this week’s Motor Fuels Tax Minute.
