Detailed Description of The Tax Navigator – EV Credits and Government Spending Deadlines
00:00:00
Sean: Alright, for last week, not a whole lot happened. Talking about the spending bill, we had everything going on with Charlie Kirk, we had Jimmy Kimmel, which his show is coming back out tomorrow.
00:00:09
Sean: So, nothing really on the spending bill, it got voted down. President Trump has even said that on September 30th, we could go into a government shutdown. Even the temporary funding didn’t go. So, the next three or four days through next week will be interesting around that.

Sean: I want to use this time to send out a public service announcement for all of you that have an electric vehicle, and you want to get the tax credit potentially for that. You have until September 30th to buy your vehicle, whether it be for personal use or business use. So businesses need to acquire the vehicle by September 30th. Individuals need to do that as well. So that’ll get you up to $7,500 credit and it’s all gone after that.
00:00:47
Sean: Now, you could have a situation where the car companies could have a lot of inventory, and they could lower the price to get you sort of in a similar ballpark of that. But if you want the EV tax credit, you need to buy by September 30th for that.
00:01:01
Sean: On the residential energy efficient credits for home improvement, not home improvement, but just EV credits for the house, be it solar, geothermal, wind, you have to have all that paid for and installed by December 31st to get a credit. The credit is 30% of the expenditure, but note it has to be installed by 12/31. So, if you’re looking at doing that, I would recommend you start that process pretty soon because it could take several months to get all that installed. So, it is a big credit there.
00:01:37
Sean: On the electric vehicle credit, California had talked about they were going to implement a $7,500 credit for California residents to fill the gap, but they don’t have enough money in their budget to do that. So, there is going to be no more credits for the rest of this year, foreseeable future, if you do not buy the car this weekend prior to September 30th.
